Mother's Day!

Mother's day at our house was much different this year. Generally we go visit my mom on Mother's day, but with them moving ,it takes a lot longer to get there, it's not just across town. Makes it a little bit harder to do. So I hope all you Mom's out there had a great Mother's Day. I know I did, we took a drive and had a picnic, although it was not a traditional picnic. We BBQed hot dogs and ate them in the parking lot just below Tony Grove because there was still snow on the road up to Tony Grove. It was fun though. Dalton even found a tree that he called the "Whomping Willow". We had to walk up to it to prove that it wasn't the whomping willow. He was scared it was going to hurt us until we got right up to the tree and touched it. It was fun. We enjoyed some great family time together out in nature not at home locked in the house.

Thing We Do In The Name of Fun!

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you got something stuck in a tree and you tried to get it down with your shoes. We found out that it doesn't always work. As a matter of fact we found that it's down right difficult. We had a primary party on Saturday, which the kids learned about the Armour of God and they got to build a shield of their very own. After the party was over I took my son and a couple of his friends who were walking with us out in back of the church to wait for my other son's who were on a scouting activity.

The kids were bored so they threw their shields in the air and tried to catch them. The next thing we knew one of the boys got his shield stuck in a tree. He took off a shoe and tried to get his shield down with his shoe, only to have that shoe get stuck in the tree. He figured that he had nothing to lose if he took off his other shoe and threw it up to get his other shoe down and got his second shoe stuck. We didn't really have any other way to get the shoes out of tree so we all took a shoe off and tried to get his shoes out of the tree.

A man that was there also lifted one of the boys into the tree and he tried to get over to them on the branch, but this did not help. We just kept trying to get them down with our shoes, no other shoes got stuck in tree, it did however take us a while to get it down. The man that lifted the boy up to the branch was the one who threw the shoe that got them down. Once we got both shoes down the wind blew the shield out of the tree. How incredible is it that we worked so hard and spent so much time trying to get it down and all it took was a gust of wind. It's amazing how the Lord works. Many will say it's just coincidence, but I don't agree. I believe there is a lot more to it.

Learning to Ride Without Training Wheels!

Dalton finally decided it was time to ride his bike, the first time since his dad took his training wheels off. It took him a couple of times to get started but he did pretty good once he got going. He hates starting off though. He would rather have me run behind him steadying the bike until he gets going. He did a great job though. I am proud of him. He spent a good half hour working on it. It started to rain and that was that. There was no way he was going to continue in the rain. I don't blame him it was pretty cold.
