Summer fun!

There is no such thing as I'm bored at our house. We have many activities to keep us hopping during the summer along with going to the school for lunch. They attended scout camp for three days. Brennan got sick and wanted to come home and Skylar ended up coming home because he didn't want to be there without Brennan. There's a friend of mine that my kids are friends with of all of her kids, so we do a lot of things together, this year her kids got long boards for their birthdays, thus everywhere we go they ride their long boards. Of course, they give my kids rides on them. My boys have almost all decided they want long boards for their birthdays. They'll probably change their minds by then but that's okay. We'll deal with that when it rolls around. Probably just a passing fancy, just because their friends have them.

Caitlin sitting at a park in American Fork taking a break before Mom and Dad left the kids with Jim's neice while we ran to the cemetary to put flowers on the grave.

Tree climbing at Grandpa Hansen's couldn't have been better. Brennan enjoying reading in the tree out front.

Climbing trees is Dalton's new favoritee thing to do. He just figured out how to get into Grandpa Hansen's tree. It's the first year the tree has been big enough for the kids to climb in.Finally done putting flowers on the graves all of them look great.

Mother's Day!

Mother's day at our house was much different this year. Generally we go visit my mom on Mother's day, but with them moving ,it takes a lot longer to get there, it's not just across town. Makes it a little bit harder to do. So I hope all you Mom's out there had a great Mother's Day. I know I did, we took a drive and had a picnic, although it was not a traditional picnic. We BBQed hot dogs and ate them in the parking lot just below Tony Grove because there was still snow on the road up to Tony Grove. It was fun though. Dalton even found a tree that he called the "Whomping Willow". We had to walk up to it to prove that it wasn't the whomping willow. He was scared it was going to hurt us until we got right up to the tree and touched it. It was fun. We enjoyed some great family time together out in nature not at home locked in the house.

Thing We Do In The Name of Fun!

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you got something stuck in a tree and you tried to get it down with your shoes. We found out that it doesn't always work. As a matter of fact we found that it's down right difficult. We had a primary party on Saturday, which the kids learned about the Armour of God and they got to build a shield of their very own. After the party was over I took my son and a couple of his friends who were walking with us out in back of the church to wait for my other son's who were on a scouting activity.

The kids were bored so they threw their shields in the air and tried to catch them. The next thing we knew one of the boys got his shield stuck in a tree. He took off a shoe and tried to get his shield down with his shoe, only to have that shoe get stuck in the tree. He figured that he had nothing to lose if he took off his other shoe and threw it up to get his other shoe down and got his second shoe stuck. We didn't really have any other way to get the shoes out of tree so we all took a shoe off and tried to get his shoes out of the tree.

A man that was there also lifted one of the boys into the tree and he tried to get over to them on the branch, but this did not help. We just kept trying to get them down with our shoes, no other shoes got stuck in tree, it did however take us a while to get it down. The man that lifted the boy up to the branch was the one who threw the shoe that got them down. Once we got both shoes down the wind blew the shield out of the tree. How incredible is it that we worked so hard and spent so much time trying to get it down and all it took was a gust of wind. It's amazing how the Lord works. Many will say it's just coincidence, but I don't agree. I believe there is a lot more to it.

Learning to Ride Without Training Wheels!

Dalton finally decided it was time to ride his bike, the first time since his dad took his training wheels off. It took him a couple of times to get started but he did pretty good once he got going. He hates starting off though. He would rather have me run behind him steadying the bike until he gets going. He did a great job though. I am proud of him. He spent a good half hour working on it. It started to rain and that was that. There was no way he was going to continue in the rain. I don't blame him it was pretty cold.

Playing Outdoor's at Ryan's Place Park

We spent the day playing at Ryan's Park Place, there is a wonderful story about it. It started in August 2006, when Ryan Adams 2 years old drowned during a family trip to Lake Powell. After losing their son Ryan, Craig and Alisha Adams wanted to renovate the community playground , to remember him by. They started collecting money and within a few weeks, the project grew into a full-fledged memorial park, complete with a rocket ship playground and a dragon slide. It became a community effort to build a monument to all children. It's a wonderful park and my children enjoy playing there. I'm amazed at the beautiful, wonderful things that can happen when a community pulls together. Many people donated money and time to help build this park. This is a great place for kids to play and most of the time there are a lot of people there.

Caitlin's Major/Minor Accident? Not!

Have you ever had days when things that go wrong are different than what your panicked self leads you to believe? I had one of those days today. Caitlin was in the kitchen while I worked on dinner. I thought I had all the knives and anything else that she could hurt herself with, out of her reach. I walked into the living room for 10 seconds, she was at the sink playing with the water. She started crying like she had hurt herself, so I walked back into the kitchen to assess the problem and saw what I thought at first was blood on her face, hands, and clothes. I carried her into the bathroom to locate the wound, because already having three other children I have learned that even very small head wounds bleed a lot. I started wiping what I thought was blood off of her and found out that it was koolaid. Relief flooded through me. If I had followed my panicked self, I would have call 911 for nothing, thanks to a cool head and quick thinking it wasn't an emergency. The clothes might be a loss, but Caitlin is great. We couldn't get all of the koolaid out of her hair.
